Raising
the turbine tower
Raising the tower was intimidating and scary to say the least. The
tower stands 106 feet high and is made up of five 21 foot sections of
shedule 10 galvanized steel pipe. The A.R.E. tower installation manual
estimates that it takes about 2000 opunds of pull to raise the tower
and turbine. Considering this, I had to find a winch that would do the
job and being on a budget, find one at a reasonable price. What I ended
up buying was a 9500lb rated planetary gear winch from
http://www.gregsmithequipment.com/ for about $300 dollars.
